NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - Universal Cares will host its fourth annual Softball Slamfest on Saturday, June 7, at Morse Park and Beach softball fields.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will raise funds for back-to-school supplies and other local programs.
The Hamilton County-based nonprofit says six teams will compete in the tournament, which begins with a first pitch at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to the games, the fundraiser will feature a cookout, bake sale, kids' activities, raffles and a lemonade stand hosted by the Isaiah House of Boone County.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Community Foundation will also be on-site with a booth.
Proceeds will support Universal Cares' back-to-school drive, which provides students with items such as backpacks, headphones, tissues and hand sanitizer.
A portion of the funds will benefit local partner programs.
In a press release, Program Director Jill Hinds said, "This event is about more than softball; it's about helping kids start the school year strong. Whether you’re playing, cheering, volunteering, or grabbing a cookie from the bake sale, you're making a real difference."
According to the event website, the bake sale will offer homemade breads, muffins, cookies and pies. Cash, card, and check will be accepted.
