IN Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith Retweets Invitation to Attend Church that Called for Death of LGBTQ+ Community
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith retweeted a message from Justin Zhong of Sure Foundation Baptist Church, inviting him to attend service.
Zhong, the local leader of the church, continues to stand by Stephen Falco's calls for the LGBTQ+ community to kill themselves.
When VBN approached Zhong in-person during the July 13 protest, he declined to comment. He laughed at VBN and demonstrators before returning inside the church.
"I’m not into politics, but maybe I should," Zhong posted. "Obviously I don’t agree with every position (I bleeped out some of the words I don’t like), but [Beckwith] is welcome at one of our church services!"
Although Beckwith appears to have deleted the retweet, VBN can confirm he did share it. WISH-TV's Kyla Russell also saw and captured a screenshot of the post.
An additional protest is scheduled against the church for this Sunday, August 3. Organizers are encouraging attendees to park in the old CVS lot at 2975 Lafayette Road, directly across from the Speedway gas station, and to avoid private property.
