Protest Planned Against Sure Foundation Baptist Church After It Defends Sermon Calling for Death of LGBTQ+ People
INDIANAPOLIS - Protests are planned for the next two Sundays at Sure Foundation Baptist Church, following a sermon in which Stephen Falco urged members of the LGBTQ+ community to end their own lives.
The church, located in a strip mall near Lafayette Road and 30th Street, came under scrutiny after Falco's sermon, titled "Pray The Gay Away," delivered during a "Men's Preaching Night" event.
During the sermon, Falco said, “There is nothing good to be proud about being a [expletive]. You're gonna blow yourself in the head, in the back of the head. You're so disgusting.”
Following these remarks, Justin Zhong posted on the church’s Facebook page defending Falco, stating he "will not apologize."
While VBN has yet to receive any response from the church, VBN has noticed negative Google reviews made about the sermon have been taken down.
In response, protests have been organized for Sunday, July 13, and Sunday, July 20, both from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The events were shared by Cass Jackson on Facebook, who wrote, "This pastor boasted proudly yesterday that the church has had 'no protestors' since his sermon telling the LGBTQIA+ community to kill themselves. Let's go."
