VBN's Upgraded Infrastructure Delivers News Now, Not Later

Editor's Note: VBN is a Vee Media brand, owned by Vivian Bostick.

MUNCIE, Ind. - Vivian Bostick News (VBN), an independent news outlet serving the Muncie community, is proud to announce new advancements designed to deliver faster, more reliable updates to our readers.

VBN can now release weather alerts and publish stories, directly to social media, in minutes.

By leveraging the weather.gov API alongside Vee Media's existing web infrastructure, VBN scans every 30 minutes for new weather alerts impacting the Muncie area. If an alert is active and hasn’t yet been posted, VBN posts it to the website, which is later syndicated to social media. While this tool is an important enhancement, it is not a replacement for official emergency alerts--we encourage the public to continue relying on their phones and traditional TV/radio for urgent updates.

Through three different automation solutions, VBN is able to push weather alerts and stories to Vee Media’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages, as well as Vivian Bostick’s LinkedIn profile. Currently, some platforms may receive these before others. VBN is seeking a faster, more efficient social media solution, but compared to our previous manual management, this is a notable development.

"This is all for the Muncie community," said Vivian Bostick, Founder of Vee Media, which owns VBN. "When something happens, it needs to get out there right away.  These groundbreaking updates to VBN's infrastructure allow me to dedicate my focus on what should matter to a news outlet: the news."
